We hope this NEVER happens again!

On Monday’s Teen Mom OG season finale, fans were shocked when Ryan Edwards appeared to be driving while impaired.

In the scene, Maci Bookout‘s ex and Mackenzie Standifer were heading to their wedding when Ryan kept falling asleep at the wheel. Although he blamed having sunlight in his eyes, Standifer had to take control when he began swerving on the road.

Contrary to Mackenzie’s suspicions, Edwards says he did not take a Xanax prior to driving, and even swore on his son Bentley‘s life.

This of course was shortly before Ryan entered rehab last month for substance abuse.

Immediately after the footage aired, Twitter users were outraged that neither MTV nor Mackenzie intervened before Edwards entered the vehicle.

Fans wrote:

Ryan driving to his shotgun wedding while high as hell is legit one of the most disturbing things MTV has aired. #TeenMomOG

I’ve never felt genuine fear when watching something on tv like I did watching Ryan drive just now😳 #TeenMomOG @MaciBookout

Mackenzie is going to marry Ryan when he’s that f*cked up? I seriously question her motives #TeenMomOG

The fact that @mtv and @TeenMom producers let Ryan drive makes me fucking sick. That scene made me sick to my stomach 😑😣 #TeenMomOG

Mackenzie just put her life, Ryan’s life and a stranger’s life in danger by allowing Ryan to drive like that. So stupid #TeenMom #TeenMomOG pic.twitter.com/yNdGRc7dAl

On Wednesday, the network released a statement addressing the controversy:

"MTV does not condone driving under the influence. Ryan’s erratic behavior was due to actions that he took without anyone’s prior knowledge."

Hmm. The footage was shot on a dashboard camera, and a cameraperson was not present during the incident. But was MTV still wrong to air it? What do YOU think??

BTW, in case you missed his social media announcement on Monday, Ryan revealed he is "back home now doing well" after his stint in rehab. So at least that’s good!
